"The Vietnam War, the assassinations of public figures, and seeing part of my city burn the previous summer during riots-- it was a lot to handle. The first side of the record ends with the sad longing and fears of Old Friends, who sit on a park bench and reminisce together. The fears and sadness of 1968 are long past, but a final memory remains: As I lay in bed early that Christmas Eve, the colored glow of tree lights seeped into my room. Off in the distance were disembodied television voices of Apollo astronauts circling the moon-- they read passages from the book of Genesis, and wished well the "people of the good Earth.""

"But this time take his last 5 cd's (His most recent albums), And take the 4-5 hit songs and favorites off of each album...."AND"...make a new live hits cd, like this cd being reviewed . It will be live...everybody likes his live cd's and it will update jimmy buffett's last 5 albums with a greatest hits album that is needed . Jimmy does have 4-5 great songs on each of his last 5 albums, this would make a great live best of cd."
"I love all the songs."
"It's Jimmy, what more needs to be said."
"At the end of the music CD, Jimmy lets us know that there is a backstage video. Well, my computer did not have the means to play the video, but my son installed Quick Time to play it."
"It takes time to listen and understand Jimmy Buffett music; once you do, you will enjoy, and if you ever go to the Key West a place he spent several years, it all starts to make more sense."
"One of the rarest of things in popular music: A live performance that sounds great, captures the spirit of the artist, and is not hackneyed."

Live In Gdansk
Reviews
"This is a really great album."
"One of my all-time favorite David Gilmour performances!"
"Here is why: **** AMAZING PRODUCTION QUALITY, ON BOTH THE CDs AND THE DVDs. **** THE FINAL OFFICIAL RELEASE WHERE YOU ALSO GET TO SEE / HEAR PINK FLOYD KEYBOARDIST RICHARD WRIGHT. **** COMPLETE AND AMAZING 5.1 VERSION OF "ON AN ISLAND" ALBUM. **** GILMOUR, STILL AT THE VERY TOP OF HIS GAME, DEMONSTRATING NEW TALENTS, SUCH AS PLAYING THE SAXOPHONE!! P.S., somewhere out there is a nice DVD recording of a Roger Waters concert from Cork, Ireland (2006), which features Nick Mason."
"Awesome."
"Gilmour ended his On An Island Tour with this show which features the Baltic Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra conducted by Zbigniew Preisner. The disc also features a making of featurette called Gdansk Diary which also covers some background on the Solidarity movement in Poland. These performances include highlights from the Island tour recorded at the Mermaid Theatre in London, The AOL Sessions in New York and Live at Abbey Road."
"I absolutely love it."
"After listening to the CD's while driving, I began to appreciate the music more and more and notice the different touches on these new recordings more and more. I also enjoyed the DVD's especially since it was Richard's last concert filmed with David, and I treasure it, also, but it is the cd's that I have enjoyed so much!"
"One CD in the second set is also scratched and both appear to be used."

"BOOKENDS (released in 1968) is the greatest of all Simon & Garfunkel albums, and one of the best records made in the 1960s. The first side of the record ends with the sad longing and fears of Old Friends, who sit on a park bench and reminisce together. Cold Fact

"The Oscar nominated documentary 'searching for Sugarman' opened my eyes to why. People thought he had killed himself after being humiliated in the USA. In South Africa he was loved by the young population, 'He Crucified our minds'. He opened our eyes in an apartheid era, when we were blinded by it's evils. It was possibly the greatest Album never heard, but there may have been a 'Rich Folks Hoax' somewhere."
"From a hard, working class background, inclined toward movies and music and influenced by his father's guitar playing, he taught himself and quit school at 16. In the 60s/70s, when war, words, music, and the streets came alive, Rodriguez's singer-songwriting talent carried him to widespread popularity, becoming mainstream in Australia and South Africa. With North American promotion lacking, unbeknownst to him, international licensing and bootlegging created a huge following and market for him, and through intense coercion, Rodriguez agreed to appear in person."
"My only complaint is that I got all three cds and there is a lot of overlap in the songs, but I think the deal was something like I bought the two original CDs and the soundtrack was an extra $5, so not a big deal, but if you want only one CD, get the soundtrack, as it has most of his best songs, but everything he wrote is worth listening to."
"And now he even gets some money for the albums he made in 1969 in Detroit, MI, and 1971 in London, England...which did not sell at the time, except for huge amounts in South Africa. Interesting songs with titles that say a lot: "Sugar Man", "Crucify Your Mind", "This Is Not A Song, It's An Outburst: Or, The Establishment Blues", "Hate Street Dialogue", "Inner City Blues", "Rich Folks Hoax", etc."

"It's one of the first albums that I check out when I have a new piece of gear, and one that sounds better every time I make an improvement where a lot of other recordings start to reveal flaws."

"Wonderful harmonies and great songs by the Wailin Jennys."
"Good album, but doesn't come near their Bright Morning Stars album."
"Their harmonies and easy voices really put one at ease and provide a relaxing atmosphere for just enjoying some calming music after a hectic day at work."
