"Returned to Wayne per RMA instructions--they sent a replacement which arrived just three days after they received it, so kudos for their swift processing! Curiously, the replacement was the older model, judging from the lack of built-in GFCI and a much lower serial number, so a sockit turns out to be overkill for my current needs, but I'll keep it anyway since it can always fit other device cords into it. Lastly, I'll say that since this is my first year of having a cover and pump, it has made the pool off season much more enjoyable since it has reduced my maintenance effort a fraction of what it had been. "They seem to last 3-6 yrs depending on the conditions used - mine activate on average every 2-3 minutes, sometimes as frequently as every 20 sec during a heavy storm. 2) RUBBER FLOAT LEVER BOOT: The rubber boot/seal where the float lever enters the pump cap assembly will harden over time, providing just enough resistance for the lever not to activate the pump switch (very frustrating to find the pump submerged underwater, then the slightest movement triggers the motor) - keeping this lubricated with a bit of silicone grease will help prevent or solve this problem. These will get clogged over time and can cause an unlikely 'airlock' situation where the impeller with turn freely within a pocket of air and not push any fluids."

I removed the small clamp and screw from the float switch cord and tossed it. This pump runs quieter than a new Barnes, and there is no difference in the waterfall flow that I can detect."
